Today i love You because of my family...

Recently my granddad offered me a piece of (what I consider) good advice for life:

“Put the Lord first in everything you do whether you see it as spiritual or practical, there is no difference. Share all your life, even the intimate moments with the Lord as He, by His Holy Spirit, always lives within you. Not forgetting to enjoy all His blessings.”

Today i love You because of rain...

Today I cycled in the rain.
I haven’t done this in ages.
From the other side of rain on a window pain I have often said I liked it. Or in ‘Les Parapluies de Cherbourg’ when Geneviève and Guy kiss in the romantic French rain. I like it then too. I’ve loved the aroma of rain, falling on autumnal leaves; that fresh scent. I think I have even had a rain-scented candle before.

Today Daisy had broken down and I had to cycle. At first I was literally blinded by the blur of rain hitting my face. I was blinded to the beauty of the experience, wanting to get home and thinking what I could do when I found refuge. After realising resistance was futile however, I surrendered to the deluge and chose to splash myself by going through the puddles before the lorries could beat me to it. I was totally compelled to praise God at that moment. Like my wet, tangled hair I suddenly felt free, as if I was glass to the gaze of others. I took the long way home.

Sometimes I can be too caught up in the ‘what next’ rather than seeing what God wants to show me in the now. I can be fixated on the next stage of my life rather than enjoying what God has for me now.

I guess today reminded me to see the beauty of the journey and not just the destination.
